Am I Eligible To Sign Up To Attend?
To be eligible for you to be considered to attend, you must be :
- enrolled in a full time course at University (Masters and/or PhD) AND/OR
- working as a data scientist or any related professional experience
After signing up you will receive an email confirming that you have been selected to attend and your space at event is secured!
I Registered! Does This Guarantee Me A Spot In The Hack?
No. Registration closes on March 5, 2018 !
Due to limited space, we will have to do a pre‐selection based on a resume screening. From this, we will
determine who will be invited to the onsite competition. Notifications will be send out by the end of
March 12, 2018
What Type Of Things Should We Build?
You will be required to do exploratory data analysis and a predictive modeling (more info will be given to you to day of the event) Note that the code is more important than the model, which means that you should make sure the code is clear/clean.
What Language Or Platform Can I Use?
- If you bring your own laptop, the choice is yours : however we recommend you to work in R or Python as these are the languages used at McKinsey
- If you use a McKinsey laptop : note that the operation system will be Windows X and that the available languages will be R and Python, however you will be able to download your own IDE if you prefer
Who Owns the Code after We're Done?
You do! McKinsey does not own any of your code. Feel free to open source your code, expand on it, etc. This is a great opportunity to make use of advice from industry experts!
Do I Have To Be On A Team?
No, you will work on your own but no worries as the set‐up and program of the day will allow you to connect with a lot of the participants.
Will Food Be Provided?
It wouldn’t be a McKinsey hackathon without food, and lots of it! We’ll also have plenty of caffeine drinks to keep the energy high all‐day long. And closer to the event we will reach out for dietary requirements.
What Should I Bring?
You should bring yourself, great ideas and a laptop (if not, let us know)
