If you’re currently working or studying towards an advanced degree in the US and interested in working in an emerging market, spend a few minutes exploring Global Connect. We’d love to receive your application by May 19, 2019.
My expectations of Global Connect did not come close to reality. I never would have predicted the impact this event would have on me and my professional decisions. I connected with consultants and leaders from different offices. I experienced working at McKinsey through solving a real case with my team and the mentorship of experienced consultants.

For me, the best moment was presenting our recommendations to McKinsey partners pretending to be our clients. Receiving their instant feedback, seeing what they noticed about our approach and solution, inspired me. I want to be just as articulate and insightful as they are.
After the presentation, I was proud of our achievements and of how much I had personally improved my problem solving and communication skills in two days.
Global Connect made me realize how collaborative McKinsey’s culture is. I connected with at least 20 consultants during the event, and all of them have kept in touch with me. They guided me through the recruiting process. They helped me realize McKinsey is one firm; regardless of their home office, they were there to help me become part of the McKinsey family.

I decided to join McKinsey in Brazil to make a positive difference for my home country. One of my biggest passions is mentoring others. It gives me great satisfaction to guide someone toward their professional aspirations. I always find I learn a lot along the way. Working at McKinsey will develop my coaching capabilities and best improve my ability to pay the coaching I’ve received forward.
If you are interested in consulting at an emerging market, participate in Global Connect. It will help you understand McKinsey’s culture, develop new skills, and meet amazing people who will guide you professionally.
More about Ingrid
Ingrid started her career in Brazil, working for an airline company as a finance analyst. She was progressively promoted until she became the head of client policies in Chile. She got her first hands-on experience with McKinsey as a client. She was impressed by McKinsey’s deliverables and recommendations. She wanted to develop the skills she saw them possess, so she earned her MBA at Columbia Business School.
Before classes even started, she attended pre-MBA events hosted by the firm. At that time, McKinsey was organizing the first Global Connect and some recruiters invited her to apply. After much preparation and two interviews, she was invited to participate, and the rest, as they say, is history.
