Interviewer: Describe your career path at McKinsey – what are the highlights?

Gaia: I joined McKinsey about four months ago. My first project with the firm focused on coaching a client team as they revised their strategic plans and designed their new organization. I had a lot of ownership and independence and frequently met with clients alone almost from day one, but I always felt supported by my team. It was the perfect mix for me. Since then, I’ve done so many different things that the time has flown by. I’ll never be bored here.

Interviewer: Why were you drawn to McKinsey Implementation?

Gaia: I was already a consultant who worked side by side with clients to help them overcome road blocks and improve their operations. McKinsey Implementation was the perfect way to continue doing what I am passionate about on a global scale with limitless opportunities to grow.

Interviewer: What has working at McKinsey taught you about yourself?

Gaia: I learned that my ability to listen to people and coach them is one of my key strengths. In the beginning, I wasn’t sure my humble and caring style would fit in the firm; now I know each person at McKinsey is valued for his or her own strengths and experiences. I’ve also learned to focus on activities that will provide clients with the most value. I regularly ask myself “What is the objective of the work I am doing?” My clients really appreciate this structured approach.

Interviewer: What are you passionate about outside of work?

Gaia: I enjoy traveling as much as possible. I surround myself by nature and trek. I don’t mind some relaxing weekends either – I cook or bake and enjoy the results with friends.
