I started my career as a business analyst at McKinsey, based in New York. After two years with the firm, I left to do business operations & strategy work at a Bay-area, early-stage, health tech start-up in the fertility space. Being in a small, dynamic team and having a lot of responsibility has been a good learning experience.

What do you miss most about your time as a business analyst at McKinsey?
I miss the remarkable concentration of extremely high-caliber, inspiring peers and mentors. It’s hard to truly appreciate the advantages you have at the firm – to be a phone call away from a world-class expert on nearly any topic – until you leave it.
What skills did you learn that still help you today?
Almost all of them. There are the practical things, like modeling and how to craft a good storyline, as well as softer skills, like gravitas and how to handle delicate situations.
What experience from your analyst days still makes you smile?
I spent an amazing couple of months in the Bahamas for an engagement. While I was there, I played with the Bahamian National Women’s Rugby team in a friendly match against a US-based team.
