Do you want to do work that matters, alongside supportive leaders who will help you grow faster than you ever thought possible? Are you a creative problem-solver who is energized by challenges? You’ve come to the right place.

Who You'll Work With

You will join one of our offices in Greater China as part of our Operations practice, focused on work in the Global Energy and Materials (GEM) industries.  This includes Oil & Gas, Metals & Mining, Electric Power/Natural Gas and Chemicals & Agriculture.

McKinsey’s Operations Practice is one of the fastest-growing practices in McKinsey globally and in Asia.  We are committed to helping our clients achieve world-class operations. Blending strategic thinking with hands-on implementation, we develop and define operational strategies to help our clients around the world solve their most critical problems. We tackle the key operational challenges faced by our clients, particularly in the areas of supply chain management, product development, purchasing & supply management, service operations, manufacturing, and capital productivity.

Your impact within our firm

You will work with colleagues and client staff from a wide range of business areas across the world to build sustainable value through delivering distinctive operations expertise, and support clients to implement these ideas, including capability building.

In addition, you will work in cooperation with our worldwide network of consultants to shape McKinsey's thinking in this area, continuously developing your own knowledge, as well as that of the firm. You'll predominantly focus on engagements in Oil & Gas, Metals & Mining, Natural Gas and Chemicals & Agriculture and may work more in one of those industries depending on your experience and/or desire to specialize.

In a typical project, you will own a work stream to deliver the end recommendation with help from the McKinsey leadership. Working closely with clients on-site, you'll perform analysis of the particular problems as defined for your work stream – identifying and prioritizing issues for further analysis, and synthesizing the insights from the analyses.  You'll also develop recommendations based on the synthesis, and create plans to implement the recommendation.

We offer personalized training programs to prepare you for the job and attractive conditions and career prospects, depending on your experience.  Entry as specialist or expert will be based upon the level individual candidate experience and will be determined through the interview discussions.

Your qualifications and skills

  • At least 4+ years of working experience within related industries (preferred Oil & Gas, Metals & Mining, Chemicals & Agriculture).
  • Proven leader with the ability to inspire others, build strong relationships, and create a true followership
  • Collaborative team player, capable of working well with others, but also autonomously with little direction
  • Superior analytical, quantitative and conceptual thinking
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Entrepreneurial and result-driven achiever
  • Advanced degree in related fields or MBA is preferred
  • Verbal and written fluency in both English and Mandarin is required
