You will be part of our Asia South Office (ASO) Commercial Desk team and will be based out of our Jakarta office. The ASO Commercial Desk closely collaborates with the Engagement CFOs, Partners and Client Service Teams (CSTs), the clients, as well as other finance functions or other departments across various McKinsey offices.
You will provide highly technical analytical support on Engagement Life Cycle management in Southeast Asia offices across different functions on a broad range of areas.
In this role, you will provide centralized support to Engagement CFOs and client-service teams throughout the Engagement Life Cycle (ELC). You will assist in key activities such as preparing requests for proposals, pricing, budgeting, and planning engagements. Your role will involve reviewing engagement setups to ensure compliance with the firm’s policies and local tax regulations before projects commence. Additionally, you will review contract commercial terms and guide client-service teams through any exception approval processes as needed.
You will manage a portfolio of work-in-progress (WIP) engagements on a monthly basis, resolving discrepancies and ensuring that accounting entries and adjustments are completed accurately and on time for month-end close. You will play a critical role in collaborating with all stakeholders to maintain smooth financial operations. You will also work closely with clients’ procurement and finance teams to manage deliverable acceptance processes, resolve any issues that arise, and provide impact calculations and reconciliations to enable timely billing.
As part of your responsibilities, you will monitor and analyze billing and collection aging, ensuring that invoices are sent on schedule and accounts receivable are collected on time. You will partner with Engagement CFOs and Engagement Directors to follow up on outstanding receivables with clients when necessary. You will also track non-standard arrangements, ensure proper accounting of revenues and reserves, and escalate any high-risk situations as appropriate. Ensuring compliance with global revenue policies and US GAAP will be a key part of your role.
You will work closely with the ASO Finance Leadership team to implement policies and procedures across six Southeast Asia offices. Additionally, you will support local finance teams and the corporate tax team with ELC-related aspects of internal, local statutory, tax, and ad-hoc audits. Beyond these responsibilities, you will take on other ad-hoc tasks and projects as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the team.
