Who You'll Work With

You’ll work with McKinsey China Client Capability Center, the research arm of McKinsey's Greater China Office and part of McKinsey's global Knowledge Network, which is based in Shanghai. Our research professionals support McKinsey engagements and knowledge building efforts by providing services that range from the delivery of basic facts to developing industry or functional insight, and providing expert thought on key issues. This position provides an excellent platform to build up solid skillset to identify key issues in complex business world and make recommendation based on meticulous logical analysis , and accumulate broad and fundamental knowledge in a wide range of topics, including macroeconomics, public sector, real estate, organization, etc.

Your impact within our firm

You’ll articulate, scope, and prioritize study needs, and identify and gather relevant company, industry, and economic information using a broad spectrum of appropriate sources, and summarize the information into insight or recommendation to real business situation or issue.

You’ll be responsible for providing analyses and expertise suggestion of marketing and sales related client service topics, such as new product development, consumer insights, brand and product propositioning, channel development, and presenting the insights to clients in McKinsey standard. Further, you’ll likely to be in charge of conducting interviews with internal experts or external best practice players and share insights within tight deadlines. Serving as a thinking partner, you’ll also have the chance to engage in team problem solving, share evolving business trends, and contribute to final suggestions and proposals.
You will also contribute to building firm knowledge in the marketing and sales function, delivering fact-packs, industry white paper, knowledge nuggets, qualification packs, methodology guide, etc. along your engagement experience in the firm.
Lastly, you’ll have the chance to leverage internal and external networks, engage in team problem solving, share evolving business trends and best practices, and contribute to knowledge creation initiatives.

Your qualifications and skills

  • High self-motivation and resilience, willing to travel for most of the times
  • Strong analytical skillset, particularly in numerical analysis
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Mandarin (both oral and written)
  • Graduate/Post-graduate degree in Business, Marketing, Psychology, etc.
  • 8 to 11 years work experience 
  • Solid understanding of marketing and sales, experience in MNC, start-up, branding consulting, creative agency are preferred 
  • Excellent people skills
  • Professional in client-facing context
