Who You'll Work With

You will be based in one of our North America offices with a hybrid working model.
In this role, you will report to Optimize’s Director of Social Responsibility and will work with leaders and colleagues across Optimize, and stakeholders across the firm, as you shape, support, and deliver on McKinsey’s social & economic inclusion aspirations across our supply chain. 
Optimize – McKinsey’s procurement & portfolio solutions function – delivers distinctive, positive, and productive experiences for McKinsey colleagues through various services ranging from travel, events, real estate, sourcing, technology, and purchasing.

Your impact within our firm

You will be responsible for leading McKinsey’s strategy and implementation related to social & economic inclusion efforts in the supply chain.  
You will gather and analyze information, formulate and test hypotheses, develop recommendations, syndicate recommendations with stakeholders and drive implementation of solutions. This will include creatively driving and implementing the strategy to advance social & economic inclusion in the context of McKinsey’s supply chain and proactively acting on emerging trends and industry leading practices by staying on top of and driving cutting edge thinking in the field (through participation in relevant convening organizations), ensuring McKinsey’s program is best-in class.
You will bring extensive subject matter expertise in the fields of supplier diversity, living wage, and employee upskilling/training in supply chains, including familiarity with relevant standards, benchmarks, convening organizations (ILO), stakeholders, reporting channels (GRI, Ecovadis), and frameworks (UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, UN Global Compact).
Drawing on your expertise, you will design and implement best-practice approaches to ensure that risks and impacts related to social & economic inclusion across McKinsey’s supply chain are identified, prioritized, and addressed. 
You will identify relevant metrics and measures to meaningfully track and drive progress, providing timely and accurate commentary and statistics related to McKinsey’s social & economic inclusion strategy. You’ll contribute to and expand knowledge development initiatives that advance McKinsey’s capabilities for both internal practices and client service (authoring knowledge documents). 

Your qualifications and skills

  • 7+ years work experience, with at least 3 to 5 in social responsibility or related fields and/or consulting
  • Ability to take ownership or and drive ambiguous workstreams independently
  • Strong communications skills, both with respect to page-making as well as verbal and other written communications
  • Strong project management skills
  • Comfort with basic analytics (e.g., pivot tables, xlookup, summarizing YoY trends) and drawing actionable insights from a quantitative fact base
  • Bias towards action

  • Attention to detail and quality
