Advanced Professional Degree Candidates

On this site, you will find information about McKinsey and our recruiting process for Advanced Professional Degree (APD) candidates. We consider APD candidates those who are PhDs, Postdocs, JDs and non-MBA Master’s students finishing programs in 2025 (with at least 4 years in between the completion of your undergrad degree and graduate degree) and medical students, interns, residents or fellows finishing programs in 2025.

Roles

If you are pursuing a master's degree and you earned an undergraduate degree fewer than four years ago, you will be considered for our business analyst role.

If you hold a bachelor’s degree and have at least four years of work experience or completed or expect to complete your master’s program four years from the time you received your bachelor’s degree, you will be considered for our associate role.

Deadlines

Our full-time associate role deadline is June 7, 2024. APD candidates applying to full-time roles have an anticipated graduation year of 2025.

Opportunities for Advanced Professional Degree Candidates

Many advanced professional degree (APD) candidates join us as associate or junior associate consultants, with the specific position being determined based on the office and level of experience. APD candidates may also consider applying for an associate or business analyst internship position depending on their degree or work experience. Typically, these internships are available during the summer prior to the penultimate year of your program. Timing of internships can vary based on your academic schedule.

We have a range of roles to consider based on your diverse skills and interests. Generalist consulting, covering a wide variety of projects; practice consulting, focused on a specific function or industry; and technical roles within McKinsey’s product and solution development teams (e.g. data science, data engineering, software engineering, and digital strategy & delivery).
