Mazen, a senior partner at McKinsey with over 20 years of consulting experience, is currently based in the Middle East. He is responsible for managing McKinsey’s Leap and Grow divisions across Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EEMA). His role involves helping supervise initiatives in business development, GM&S, and venture investing and development.
Mazen is a global leader in our Financial Services and Private Equity & Principal Investors Practices. He has also founded and currently chairs the McKinsey Kuwait office. He advises leaders in the financial services and institutional investor sectors while covering a wide range of their priority topics.
His expertise spans helping clients with mergers and acquisitions, large-scale performance and health transformations, digital transformations, business builds, risk management, governance and operating models, talent management, and more. He also focuses on universal banking topics across retail, corporate and investment banking, wealth and asset management, and treasury.
Mazen’s prior work includes the development and implementation of transformation and modernization programs for various financial institutions in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). He has upgraded monetary policy and financial stability management capabilities for several EU and MENA central banks and harmonized the design of banking supervisory regulations and regimes across the Gulf Cooperation Countries (GCC).
His passion for finance and international economics originated in academia. Before entering the consulting world, Mazen held positions at the University of Manchester and the American University of Beirut.
