Erikhans is a senior partner in McKinsey’s Houston office and the global co-leader of McKinsey’s Capital Excellence practice.

He offers deep expertise in optimizing capital project portfolios as well as developing and delivering mega capital projects, including pressure testing business cases, validating cost and schedule estimates, contracting strategy, design optimization, all the way into project field execution.

Examples of his recent client work include the following:

  • supporting a top global refinery, delivering $2 billion per year in cost and margin improvement over an 24-month period
  • leading an operational transformation across manufacturing, procurement, and capital for a chemicals company, unlocking $400 million per year
  • improving a premier oil and gas company’s capex spend, unlocking $300 million per year
  • helping a global oil and gas company reduce capex by eight percent on an $8 billion mega-capital project
  • advising a utility on a small capex capital-productivity improvement program, generating 15 percent savings
  • serving a leading utility’s nuclear plants, reducing capex by 25 percent
  • spearheading a capital-allocation improvement transformation for a telecommunications company with more than $15 billion in annual capex
