Martin is a partner in McKinsey’s Munich office and a core leader within the McKinsey Center for Future Mobility (MCFM) in Europe, leading the autonomous driving and vehicle technology subsector within MCFM.

He serves disruptors, investors, automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and suppliers on strategy and growth topics, helping them capture opportunities arising from major future-of-mobility trends, such as autonomous driving and automotive software (SW).

Examples of his client work include the following:

  • developing a target picture and organizational setup for electrical/electronic (E/E) and SW development (infotainment, advanced driver assistance systems/autonomous driving (ADAS/AD), powertrain control) for a global automotive tier-one supplier
  • outlining the software-defined vehicle strategy for a leading Chinese OEM
  • developing an electronic and software strategy for an automotive supplier derived from an OEM’s future architecture
  • identifying growth opportunities, e.g., in AD or electric vehicle components, for a tier-one supplier
  • evaluating multiple transactions in autonomous systems across people and goods mobility, leading to a $1 billion investment by an innovation fund for a growth investor
  • developing the strategy for AD and mobility for a Middle Eastern city
  • performing over 15 due diligences on different start-ups, scale-ups, and businesses in the AD and automotive SW space
  • supporting over ten start-ups and scale-ups in developing convincing equity stories and achieving growth
