Peter is a partner in McKinsey’s Southern California office. He is one of the leaders of McKinsey’s biotechnology work in the United States and focuses on partnering with biotech companies on the journey from R&D to becoming fully integrated.
Peter works extensively in oncology and immunology and has helped launch and build multiple leading brands and franchises across a broad range of therapeutic categories. He is an expert on a broad range of commercial strategy topics and is a thought leader on the evolution of the biopharmaceutical commercial model.
Some examples of his recent work include the following:
- designing a new R&D operating model for a biotechnology company, expanding from a focused set of clinical development priorities to a broad portfolio of assets and indications
- developing an integrated global strategy for an oncology manufacturer, which included portfolio expansion and adjacent entry opportunities to accelerate growth
- assessing strategic options and developing scenario-based business development and cash management approaches for a commercial stage biotech prior to readout of pivotal trial
- helping architect and deliver a global commercial model transformation for a leading biopharmaceutical company
Prior to joining McKinsey, Peter was an entrepreneurial fellow with Flagship Pioneering and a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University, where he worked on the development of scalable, fully synthetic approaches to antibacterial chemical scaffolds.
