As a senior partner in the Mediterranean office, Piero is responsible for consultancy activities in the insurance sector. Since joining McKinsey in 2005, Piero has gained extensive experience in financial services, working with some of the leading groups operating in Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, Austria, Poland, Greece, and Israel on strategy, growth, innovation, M&A, restructurings, and digital transformations.

Piero is also the global coleader of the property and casualty insurance division, with a particular focus on Europe. He held this role after serving as leader of global bancassurance and European life and pension initiatives. Previously, he also led the global learning function for insurance, focusing on the professional development of consultants in the practice, as well as a group aimed at developing insurtech and innovative business models in the insurance sector.

His great passion for research and innovation has led him to work with insurtech companies not only in Italy, but also in Israel, where he was one of the founders of the McKinsey Tech Hub in Tel Aviv, and in the United Kingdom, where he is responsible for the collaboration between McKinsey and Insurtech UK, the association that works with British companies.

Before joining McKinsey, Piero began his professional career in the industrial field after graduating with a naval engineering degree from the University of Genoa. He specialized in economics and finance, earned an MBA from the London Business School, and gained practical experience in the investment banking division of Merrill Lynch in London.
