Thomas advises leaders in the public sector and healthcare organizations on strategy, data-centered transformations, and citizen- and customer-centric services. He specializes in the use of generative AI (gen AI) and analytics in the public sector and public data management and has expertise in customer experience.
Thomas has also worked with government leaders globally to support the adoption of gen AI and drive decision making grounded in facts and data. He has initiated a global client learning network on gen AI to facilitate the exchange of best practices among peers. He has worked with ministries and agencies in Germany and globally to set up data teams and build capabilities in data analytics and AI.
Some of his recent client work includes:
- helping set up data labs for ministries and government agencies to support evidence-based decision making
- developing a gen AI strategy, including a pipeline of strategic use cases and implementing gen AI solutions
- developing data solutions across critical issues (sustainability, smart cities, migration) and supporting public-sector clients on their data agenda
- driving customer-centric transformations of government and healthcare clients to provide state-of-the-art customer experience to citizens and customers
- working with national statistical offices on their data-centered transformation from strategy development to implementation
Before joining McKinsey, Thomas worked as a recording engineer (“Tonmeister”) in the music Industry. He is part of our LGBTQ+ network and leads our global efforts in LGBTQ+ recruiting.
Thomas is a native German speaker, speaks English fluently, and is conversational in French. In his spare time, he enjoys visiting classical music performances, spending time in nature, and sailing.
