About Kajsa

Kajsa joined as an intern in August 2021 and rejoined as Junior Associate in September 2022. She has a background in industrial engineering from Linköping University and enjoys kitesurfing in her spare time.

Why did you choose to apply for an internship at McKinsey?

I was curious about consulting and wanted to try it out to see if it was something for me. It was.What type of work did you do?

During my internship, I performed a wide range of tasks, such as collecting and analyzing data, engaging with clients, preparing materials, and being responsible for a project workstream. In addition, I had the opportunity to participate in two projects within two widely different industries, which was very valuable.

What has been the most valuable learning during your internship?

In addition to developing my professional skillset, including problem-solving, leadership, and presenting, I learned how highly I value working with great people and the importance of having fun at work.

Did the internship meet your expectations?

It exceeded my expectations. I especially appreciated how, as an intern, I was treated as a consultant from day one. You will have the opportunity to take on meaningful and impactful tasks from your first day.

What has been the best thing about being an intern at McKinsey?

Aside from engaging with an inspiring group of people, I would say my personal development. You will have the opportunity to challenge and develop yourself by being fully responsible for your part of the project, of course with extensive support from more senior colleagues.

Any final words of advice for students considering an internship?

Take the opportunity to apply—you won't regret it. Besides being an amazing learning journey, it is the perfect way to find out if McKinsey and consulting is something for you.
