In the time I have been here, I have seen the Singapore office grow from occupying only half a floor to two full ones—from 32 colleagues to more than 200. The office-services team has grown in tandem.
Constant growth, exciting opportunities
I joined McKinsey more than a decade ago as a team assistant and have moved into different roles along the way. Now, as office services manager, I oversee infrastructure, office services, and travel for Southeast Asia colleagues. Through my years with McKinsey, I have been given opportunities to take on projects and tasks outside of my primary role and responsibilities.
One of my most memorable experiences was managing office renovations for all six McKinsey locations in Southeast Asia over 3 years. This included negotiation with landlords, interviews with designers, selection of trade contractors, close involvement in the design of the new spaces, material and furniture selection, overseeing construction, and managing the moves to the new offices.
What keeps me here? The people and the challenge
What keeps me here after all these years? First, the people—they’re always open and willing to share their thoughts and experiences with you. Second, the job—there’s always something new to learn. Last—it’s the opportunity to shape my own journey in a way that’s aligned to my strengths and interests.
