Yi is core to McKinsey’s energy, chemicals, and process industry work in Southeast Asia.
Since joining in 2015, he has been instrumental in helping clients—ranging from large oil and gas companies to chemical firms, private conglomerates, and multinationals—transform their businesses and build lasting capabilities. Yi also leads cross-border collaborations between Southeast Asian companies and international clients.
Examples of Yi’s recent client work include:
- leading strategy development, performance improvement, and digital transformation for a Southeast Asian bulk shipping company, resulting in over 2x revenue growth in three years
- overseeing the comprehensive performance transformation of a major integrated refining and chemicals company, delivering over $300 million in recurring EBITDA uplift
- supporting the development of energy transition strategies for major energy players, including initiatives in green hydrogen, electric vehicles, battery storage, and renewable energy
- guiding a leading private sector conglomerate through an environmental, social, and governance transformation, from setting ambitious targets to launching new ventures
