Duarte is an expert partner in McKinsey Digital based in the Lisbon office. He leads McKinsey’s core technology work in the telecommunications sector globally and in the Iberia office. Since joining McKinsey in 1995, he has worked with companies from different sectors—including telecommunications, utilities, financial institutions, retail, health, and insurance—in several IT and technology modernization, digital transformation, and IT operating-model optimization topics.
In IT and tech modernization, Duarte supported several companies around the globe to design and implement the new core IT architectures, deploy new modern API platforms, and design cloud migration roadmaps.
On digital transformations, Duarte helped several companies implement a new digital operating model and an agile-at-scale organization, and launch their digital and ecommerce platforms.
Regarding IT operating-model optimization, he supported several clients in implementing new IT strategies and cost-reduction programs, including the renegotiation of their application development and infrastructure contracts, optimization of IT portfolio, improvement of development productivity, and consolidation of data centers.
Duarte holds a degree in business administration from Catholic University of Portugal and an MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management.
