Mohammad is at the forefront of McKinsey’s work in the global energy and materials industries, with a particular focus on electricity and water. He has extensive experience in helping clients translate strategies into actionable roadmaps, working across all management levels to accomplish large-scale transformations. He also helps clients achieve operational excellence, more recently addressing the ever-increasing demand for digital applications and advanced analytics. Mohammad has project experience in the Middle East, Europe, Southeast Asia, and Africa.

Mohammad’s recent work includes the following:

  • developing the corporate strategy and equity story for an integrated utility company, aiming to double profitability through growth, optimization, and capability buildup
  • designing the operating model of an integrated energy company to optimize investability, facilitate performance improvement, and achieve customer-centricity
  • supporting a large-scale global hydro operator to identify and detail cashflow improvement in over six countries, leading to 30 percent cash cost optimization
  • applying McKinsey’s power gauge benchmark and 48-hour diagnostic framework on thermal power plants across Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Africa to identify potential improvement levers in fuel, emissions, operation, maintenance, and overhead that led to profitability improvement in the range of 20 to 30 percent
  • developing the growth strategy for a power and water utility, aiming for the scale-up of new services in the sustainability and new downstream domains

Before joining McKinsey, Mohammad worked in the project management division of a major European utility, where he gained experience in the development of power plant projects.
