Carter is a partner in McKinsey’s Operations Practice, based in Atlanta. He works with organizations primarily within the travel, logistics, and distribution industries, as well as the public sector, to drive transformational change across their operations, from defining the strategy to executing at the front line.

Carter has extensive experience in helping clients with procurement, sourcing, service operations, and supply chain. He is a leader in McKinsey's Travel and Logistics practice and the Government Operations service line, helping organizations unlock transformational impact by deploying advanced analytics and operational best practices alongside integrated capability building programs.

Examples of Carter’s recent client work include the following:

  • helping a global logistics provider transform their customer and carrier operations through the combination of advanced analytics, performance management, and custom capability-building programs
  • leading a multiyear category-management procurement effort, identifying and delivering impact across more than twenty categories, both direct and indirect, for a large government organization, delivering impact while building the client’s internal capabilities
  • building and executing a major transformation for a leading industrial distributor, leveraging a broad set of levers, including operations, sales, and strategy
